WWE Bragging Rights: A Babyface Turn for Beth Phoenix?
This Sunday is the WWE's newest PPV, Bragging Rights, and while the theme of the show is Smackdown vs Raw, I'm more than sure that this Sunday will bring out new feuds.
From the 7-on-7 official Smackdown vs. Raw tag team match, to the Intercontinental champion vs U.S. champion match, and to one of my favorites, the six divas tag team match.
First off the entire PPV looks really good. However, knowing that Michelle McCool and Beth Phoenix are set to tag in battle with the amazing Natalya against Raw's Melina, Gail, and Kelly, I'm more than sure that the Smackdown divas will benefit most off this PPV.
First off I'm expecting a face turn for Beth Phoenix who over the past two weeks has told Michelle that the women's championship will be hers soon. I actually would like to see this transition happen.
It will be a new test for Beth seeing as to how she was never really a face except for when she first debuted, and she wasnt even in the WWE long before she got injured and came back as a heel.
If they are already teasing tension between McCool and Beth, something may give right there. Then again, McCool had tension with basically every heel diva when she turned last year.
They were trying to set her up as a huge, independent heel. They definitely were not thinking about killing her face character, which was not that popular anyway, but wanted her over as a heel badly.
Back to Beth, will this be a repeat of Maryse/McCool? These two heels, once McCool fully turned heel, had tension. No one turned face out of it. For Beth to turn face, the fans would have to actually rally behind her against McCool.
McCool will have to bring her heel character at its best, not playing a coward to Beth’s size. Beth will have to show a bit of weakness, either in the ring or in terms of behavior, to give McCool that edge.
Beth has been showing more emotion as of late, so I think she can pull this off. There were rumors that she was supposed to turn face out of her angle with Santino (in drag).
I shot those rumors down, and nothing came out of that for her anyway. It was too obvious that Santino would be the one turning. But this is not about Beth’s past failed rumored and actual attempted face turns, this is about the current.
Im going for a Beth face turn, and seeing as to how she is a Smackdown diva, we wont be let down.
