Marathon Tidbits
Last year, Kenya's Elisha Barno (2:11:52) and Hellen Jepkurgat (2:34:23) finished in first place in the men's and women's elite marathons, respectively. While the elite competitors will be running for professional glory, thousands of other participants will be taking part for the experience or to raise money for charity.
Fortunately, race day should be clear of any inclement weather, according to the Weather Channel. Predictions suggest 63 degrees and no rain, which should be favorable for athletes regardless of standard.
The city of Los Angeles will be on display as racers take on the 26.2 mile course. Of course, winding up in Santa Monica is the ultimate goal:
Every finisher will receive a medal, with the top three in each age group taking home a commemorative award.
