NCAA Tournament 2018: Full Bracket, Seedings and Play-In Games Revealed

Tom Petty may have written that the waiting is the hardest part, but he was not referring to filling out an NCAA men's tournament bracket sheet when he penned those classic lyrics.

The waiting is quite difficult for bubble teams, coaches, and fans, but it doesn't compare to the difficulty of filling out a bracket sheet. When it comes to getting all the selections correct, OddsShark calculates that the chances of picking a perfect bracket come out to a nearly incomprehensible number that is 19 digits long.

The Virginia Cavaliers are the top seed overall and the No. 1 seed in the South Region, followed by No. 2 Cincinnati, No. 3 Tennessee and No. 4 Arizona.

Villanova has secured the top spot in the East Region, and the Purdue Boilermakers follow in the second spot. Texas Tech and Wichita State follow with the third and fourth seeds.

Kansas earned the No. 1 seed in the Midwest Region because the Jayhawks won the Big 12 regular-season title as well as the conference tournament. The Big 12 was widely recognized as the top conference in the nation.

Head coach Mike Krzyzewski's Duke Blue Devils are the No. 2 seed in that region, followed by head coach Tom Izzo's Michigan State Spartans. Auburn earned the fourth seed in the Midwest.

Xavier picked up the No. 1 seed in the West Region, while defending NCAA champion North Carolina took the second seed. Michigan won the Big Ten conference tournament and earned the No. 3 seed, while Gonzaga appears to be a dangerous No. 4 seed.

The tournament will get underway with back-to-back First Four doubleheaders March 13 and 14.

St. Bonaventure and UCLA square off March 13 for the right to meet Florida in the East Region. The winner of that game will earn the No. 11 seed. The other game that day is LIU Brooklyn meeting Radford for the right to take on Villanova in the East Region.

Arizona State and Syracuse will meet March 14 for the No. 11 seed in the Midwest Region. The winner of that game will meet TCU. The other game that day will see NC Central and Texas Southern meet for the right to play Xavier in the first round.
