Bayern Munich Transfer News: Joshua Kimmich Set for New Deal in Latest Rumours
Bayern Munich star Joshua Kimmich is reportedly close to agreeing a new long-term contract at the Allianz Arena.
According to Kicker (h/t Sky Sports), while Kimmich is already signed up until 2020 with Bayern, his excellent form has prompted the German champions into offering him an extension that would seal his future to 2022 or 2023.
As reported by Juanma Romero of Sport, both Barcelona and Manchester City are said to be interested in the 23-year-old.

Romero noted Kimmich's agent told Bild the player and the club were set for a meeting at the end of 2018 to discuss a new contract, but Kicker's report appears to suggest a new deal has edged closer.
As relayed by Mark Lovell of ESPN FC, Bayern are also said to be tracking a right-back who can provide cover for Kimmich next season:
While Bayern supporters wouldn't have been concerned about losing Kimmich any time soon, they will be delighted if the Germany international does put pen to paper on a new contract.
Following the retirement of Philipp Lahm at the end of last season, there were huge shoes to fill in the right-back spot at Bayern. But Kimmich has been moved into the role and seamlessly cemented his space in the first team.
Having shone for Germany at right-back in the summer of 2016 at the UEFA European Championship, Kimmich has developed into one of the best full-backs in world football.
As noted by the FootballTalentScout Twitter account, Kimmich has a knack of making big contributions when he does venture forward:

32 games
4 goals
12 assists

The Bayern man is one of the most complete players in the Bundesliga, as there are few weak areas in his game.
Kimmich is excellent in possession, smart in defence, and when he does stride down the line, he's renowned for the devilish crosses he flings into the box. In partnership with Arjen Robben down the right flank, the pair have torn up many an opposing left wing.

This range of attributes means Kimmich is also capable of filling in for numerous positions. While he's now Bayern's first-choice right-back, the German is adept at shifting across into the middle of the defence or even further forward into midfield.
As noted by ScoutedFootball, last year his tremendous form was recognised by his fellow players:
Kimmich would be an asset to any club in the world, as there aren't many players who blend technical ability, in-game intelligence and relentless energy like he can. He's been an outstanding replacement for Lahm.
Should he sign a new deal, you sense Kimmich isn't the type of player to get complacent. If he continues on the current path, he's on course to enjoy an incredible career in Bavaria.
