UFC Fighter Stretchered Away from Octagon After Illegal Punch from Opponent
CB Dollaway made his return to the Octagon at UFC 222 in Las Vegas more than a year after an elevator accident injured his back in Cleveland prior to UFC 203.
Saturday's fight against Hector Lombard was going as planned until the horn sounded to end the first round. Lombard returned fire too late and floored Dollaway, ending the bout.
Dollaway was left repeatedly asking, "What happened?" The referee and commission officials consulted instant replay to determine the punch was clearly after the bell, and Lombard was disqualified.
The Arizona State Sun Devil wobbled down the steps and was put on a stretcher and rolled to the backstage area.
The victory gave Dollaway his first set of back-to-back wins since 2014, but it is not the way he wanted to achieve the feat.
