Bayern Munich Transfer News: Serie A Return for Arturo Vidal Amid Exit Rumours
Inter Milan and AC Milan will meet in the latest edition of the Derby della Madonnina in Serie A on Sunday, and according to the latest transfer rumours, they're ready to go to battle for Bayern Munich midfielder Arturo Vidal as well.
Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport (h/t Football Italia) reported Bayern see the Chilean as expendable going into the summer, with Leon Goretzka set to arrive on a free transfer. The Schalke man is expected to take the 30-year-old's place in the midfield rotation.
That could set up a transfer battle during the summer, and while there would undoubtedly be a number of interested Premier League clubs, Vidal enjoyed some of the best years of his career in Italy.

The Chile international plied his trade with Serie A giants Juventus between 2011 and 2015, winning the Italian championship in four straight seasons before returning to Germany—he previously played for Bayer Leverkusen.
Vidal has carried on winning in the Bundesliga, with two German titles under his belt and seemingly on his way to a third. He's played a key role in Bayern's dominant campaign:
Dating back to his Juventus days, Vidal has always stood out for his all-round skill set, contributing both as a defensive force and scoring midfielder. He's a solid technician with good vision, but most of his good work comes as a result of his incredible energy and work rate.
As a defensive enforcer, there are few like him:
While Goretzka isn't as gifted a scorer―he's never scored more than five goals in a single Bundesliga season―the 23-year-old is just as good defensively, and his passing range is even better than that of the Chilean. He also has youth on his side and will be expected to play a lot of minutes next season.
Vidal could stay in Germany as depth, but the Bavarians are more likely to cash in, knowing his value is still high.

Milan have been active in the transfer market the last few seasons and added Franck Kessie and Lucas Biglia to their midfield options in the last year. The Rossoneri also have high hopes for academy product Manuel Locatelli, who hasn't played much in the 2017-18 campaign but has plenty of upside.
Inter could use an upgrade on Matias Vecino, who has been a regular partner for their starlet Roberto Gagliardini. Inter have other options, including Marcelo Brozovic and Rafinha, but none process the raw talent Vidal does.
The Nerazzurri happen to be among Juventus' most hated rivals, however, and Vidal left the Bianconeri on good terms―the club even went out of their way to say goodbye to their star man:
Players have crossed the divide before, but it's hard to see Vidal putting pen to paper with Inter should he have other options. The Nerazzurri haven't been successful in the last few years, and they wouldn't make for an appealing destination for someone so used to winning.
