Serena Williams' Husband Puts Up Billboards to Welcome Her Back to Tennis
Tennis star Serena Williams will compete at the BNP Paribas Open, her first tournament on the WTA Tour since giving birth last September. Her husband, Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian Sr., commemorated the occasion with four billboards.
The signs, placed alongside Interstate 10 into Palm Springs, California, celebrate Williams as the "G.M.O.A.T.," which one would assume means "Greatest Mother of All Time." All four feature photos of their daughter, Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr.
After losing to Jelena Ostapenko in an exhibition match last December, Williams withdrew from the Australian Open. The 23-time Grand Slam champion recently revealed that she almost died because of post-birth complications.
The BNP Paribas Open commences Monday at Indian Wells Tennis Garden in Palm Springs.
