What's Next for Braun Strowman, John Cena, More After WWE Elimination Chamber?

Aaron BowerFeb 26, 2018

WWE has an interesting job on its hands crafting a road to WrestleMania for many of its top stars following Elimination Chamber on Sunday night.

Fans know that Roman Reigns is headed for the main event and a match against Brock Lesnar, with Alexa Bliss likely to face Asuka for the Raw Women's Championship.

But there are at least half a dozen other high-profile stars looking for plans for WrestleMania. Right now, many of those are in the dark over what's next.

So, with that in mind, here's a look at what the big losers from Sunday night's show could be set to do over the next few weeks.

Seth Rollins

Perhaps the most intriguing booking of all the talent that competed at Elimination Chamber on Sunday relates to Seth Rollins.

The Architect has been in incredible form lately. His record-breaking run in last Monday's gauntlet match created a real stir, and he backed that up inside the Elimination Chamber.

But with defeat in that match, where does Rollins go from here?

His path is perhaps more tricky to predict than anyone else's. With Dean Ambrose on the shelf and Roman Reigns in the main event, any possibility of an angle involving The Shield is out of the question.

Does Rollins have to turn heel to fulfil his prophecy of becoming Mr. Monday Night? If that happens between now and Mania, a blockbuster bout with someone like Finn Balor would be a great addition to the Mania card.

If not, it's tough to imagine where next for Seth.

Sasha Banks

It was another impressive effort in vain from Sasha Banks on Sunday night.

Banks' 2018 so far has been consistent. The Boss almost always delivers inside the ring and puts on phenomenal performances—but she is beginning to come up short too often.

It's clear WWE is building towards a heel turn—but who would Banks fight at WrestleMania?

The answer? Bayley.

Fans saw the first glimpse of tension between Bayley and Banks on Sunday when they attacked one another inside the Chamber. In the end, that cost them both as Alexa Bliss escaped with the Raw Women's Championship.

Expect that tension to continue to build on Monday, with Banks surely the one who will snap on her best friend.

John Cena

In what was a predictable main event at Elimination Chamber, the most surprising thing was perhaps how quietly John Cena faded into the background.

It's clear WWE's new era is starting to overtake Cena and dominate the company's landscape, but it still felt a shock to see Cena eliminated early on in the match—and with somewhat of a whimper.

Cena then headed to Raw Talk post-PPV, delivering another passionate speech in regards to his road to WrestleMania.

Right now, Cena is being booked as a desperate veteran keen to cling on to the spotlight. That angle will be explored further on Raw on Monday night without doubt—and the best way to keep the spotlight on Cena will be a match against The Undertaker.

Cena may well emerge on Monday and admit he's got nothing to prove, and nobody to fight. With that in mind, and with every challenge ticked off, he's taking some time off—before the lights dim, and Taker emerges from the shadows.

From there, the possibilities are endless.

Braun Strowman

4 of 4

The Monster Among Men left a path of destruction in his wake on Sunday night—but it wasn't enough to get the job done and move on to the main event of WrestleMania.

Braun Strowman scored up a hugely impressive five eliminations before being bested by Roman Reigns at the match's conclusion—but what next for a guy who is on top of his game right now?

The way the show closed, with Strowman destroying Reigns and taking him out after the final bell, is hopefully a hint that WWE has not given up on Strowman and the Universal Championship picture.

However, the more likely option is a match elsewhere on the card.

The fact Strowman took out five men leaves WWE with plenty of options in regards to picking an opponent—but the most likely looks like The Miz.

A feud for the Intercontinental Championship wouldn't be the ideal belt Strowman's fans would like to see over his shoulder, but for now, it may have to do.
