Donovan Mitchell Wears Custom Louisville Shoes with '2013 Champs' on Heels
Donovan Mitchell showed support for the Louisville Cardinals by donning a customized pair of sneakers Friday night.
The NCAA on Tuesday ruled the program must vacate all its wins from 2011-12 to 2014-15, including its 2013 national title, for violating eligibility rules. Mitchell paid respect to the championship squad following the penalty.
The Utah Jazz rookie, who played for Louisville in 2015-16 and 2016-17, honored the punished program by wearing red and white sneakers that featured the last names of the players from the 2013 championship squad.
He posted a photo from another angle that revealed "2013 and "Champs" inscriptions on the heels.
Mitchell scored a team-high 21 points in the Jazz's 100-81 loss to the Portland Trail Blazers. At least he doesn't have to wear those shoes forever.
