Juventus Transfer News: Yannick Carrasco Latest, Bryan Cristante Bid Rumours

Tom SunderlandFeb 24, 2018

Juventus have reportedly missed out on signing Atletico Madrid winger Yannick Carrasco after being priced out of a move. Elsewhere, the Bianconeri are said to be preparing a bid for Atalanta loanee Bryan Cristante.

Fabrizio Romano reported for Calciomercato.com that Carrasco is on the verge of joining Dalian Yifang after Juve were unwilling to meet the necessary terms for his acquisition. The Serie A champions are understood to have wanted a loan deal with an option to buy.

Romano described signing the Belgium international as a "concrete objective" for Juventus directors Giuseppe Marotta and Fabio Paratici but that Atletico's asking price was too much for the Italian outfit's tastes.

Kristof Terreur of Belgian newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws provided an update on Carrasco's prospective move to Dalian Yifang, who recently gained promotion to the Chinese Super League:

According to Romano, Carrasco will rake in €10 million (£8.8 million) per year in China. That is undoubtedly more than most European clubs would be willing to shell out, never mind a club from Italy, where wages tend to be lower in comparison with some of the continent's other top leagues.

Juventus could have had other forces working against them in their hope to land Carrasco, however, as Yahoo's Andrew Gaffney noted other intriguing factors surrounding the player's proposed move to China:

Meanwhile, Juve look to be stepping up their interest in Cristante. They are preparing a €25 million (£22 million) bid for the midfielder, according to Italian daily La Stampa (h/t Football Italia).

Atalanta will face the Bianconeri on Sunday, and the Turin club will reportedly use the opportunity to discuss a move for the Italy international.

Cristante has spent the past year on loan at Atalanta from Benfica, and the Serie A outfit are expected to trigger a Football Italia-reported €4 million (£3.5 million) purchase clause in that deal.

However, Italian football writer David Amoyal recently cast some doubt about whether the player will be able to cut it at the top level despite scoring 10 goals in 33 appearances this season:

The playmaker's agent, Giuseppe Riso, recently spoke to Italian outlet Top Calcio 24 and failed to rule out a summer move away from Bergamo (h/t Calciomercato.com):

"He will stay at Atalanta until the end of the season. We have already spoken with the Percassi family [Atalanta owners], Bryan is a player of international level.

"It is not the right moment to speak about evaluations and figures, these considerations are for the Percassi family to make. My job is to evaluate the road that Bryan must take, meaning clubs that are capable of appreciating him as well as the right managers to coach him. We will look at the numbers when the time is right.
"

Atalanta's aforementioned €4 million purchase clause means La Dea could have an opportunity to make a major profit this summer.
