Larry Nance Jr. Earns Perfect 50 with Double-Tap off Backboard in Dunk Contest
Ryan McCrystalFeb 17, 2018
Cleveland Cavaliers forward Larry Nance Jr. came up short in the NBA Dunk Contest finals against Utah Jazz rookie Donovan Mitchell, but he may have thrown down the dunk of the night at Los Angeles' Staples Center on Saturday.
Early in the evening, while donning his dad's Phoenix Suns jersey, Nance Jr. replicated one of his father's dunks that helped him win the inaugural contest in 1984. But it was Nance Jr.'s original work that earned him a perfect final-round 50.
On his last dunk of the night, Nance tossed the ball off the backboard and then tapped it off the glass a second time while in midair before throwing it down.
It wasn't enough to take home the trophy, but it may have been the night's most original slam.
