Colts GM Chris Ballard Says 'The Rivalry Is Back On' with Patriots at Presser

Moe MotonFeb 7, 2018

As expected, Indianapolis Colts general manager Chris Ballard didn't take kindly to New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels' change of heart.

At the end of Wednesday's press conference, Ballard said, "The rivalry is back on," referencing the competitive matchups between the teams when Peyton Manning took snaps under center in Indianapolis.

Despite New England's developing dynasty, the Colts beat the Patriots in the AFC Championship Game and went on to win Super Bowl 41 following the 2006 regular season.

McDaniels agreed to terms to become the head coach of the Colts and then reneged on the deal to remain with the Patriots on Tuesday, per ESPN's Adam Schefter:

Now, the Colts will set their sights on a new lead man to steer the team toward success. The scheduling order hasn't been finalized, but Indianapolis will play New England at Gillette Stadium in 2018.
