John Wall Won't Receive Signature Adidas Shoe, According to Leaked Contract

Mike ChiariFeb 7, 2018

Details regarding Washington Wizards guard John Wall's shoe deal with Adidas were publicized Wednesday by Jon Wertheim of Sports Illustrated.

According to Wertheim, documents show that Wall will not receive a signature shoe as part of the contract. However, he will have the opportunity to collaborate on shoes with the likes of Kanye West and Pharrell Williams.

Wall's deal will pay him $4.825 million in 2017-18 and 2021-22 with higher totals in between, but incentives are in place for him to earn much more.

Among the incentives in Wall's deal are $500,000 each for being an NBA champion, winning NBA Finals MVP or getting named NBA All-Star Game MVP.

There are also incentives related to winning various other awards and leading the NBA in certain statistical categories. The largest single-payment incentive is $1 million for winning the NBA Slam Dunk Contest.

If Wall is named NBA MVP, his base salary will receive a $1 million bump as well.

This marks Wall's second stint with Adidas after leaving the company in 2015. He was unattached until recently, although he did wear Adidas, Nike and Jordan Brand during that time, per Wertheim.

The Wizards announced on Jan. 30 that Wall was set to undergo a knee procedure that would keep him out of action for six to eight weeks.

While injuries have nagged the 27-year-old this season, he was still named an All-Star for the fifth consecutive year and is averaging 19.4 points, 9.3 assists and 3.6 rebounds per game.

The Wizards are currently fourth in the Eastern Conference at 31-23, just 0.003 win-percentage points behind the third-place Cleveland Cavaliers.
