Detroit Pistons center Willie Reed was suspended six games without pay on Tuesday stemming from an Aug. 5 domestic violence incident involving his wife, Jasmine Reed, according to Yahoo Sports' Shams Charania

Reed, who was acquired by the Pistons in the Blake Griffin blockbuster, was arrested and charged with battery after his wife told police that he "dragged her across the apartment while wrestling for a purse and later pulled her hair and grabbed her by the wrist during an argument," per the Associated Press.

Jasmine later said she wanted the charge against her husband dropped.

According to the Sun Sentinel's Ira Winderman, Reed subsequently agreed to enter a diversion program that will wipe the misdemeanor charge off his record. He also agreed to make a public statement about domestic violence, donate $500 to a domestic violence charity and attend counseling.

Reed, 27, started the season with the Los Angeles Clippers before he was traded to the Pistons on Jan. 29 and will become a free agent at season's end.
