Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones' Grandson John Stephen Commits to Arkansas
John Stephen Jones is following in his grandfather's footsteps when it comes to his college choice.
On Sunday, Jonesโthe grandson of Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jonesโannounced on his Twitter page he will attend the University of Arkansas:
According to 247Sportsโ composite rankings, Jones is a 3-star prospect and the No. 1,652 overall player, No. 54 pro-style quarterback and No. 239 player from the state of Texas in the class of 2018.
Jones isn't the only pro-style quarterback in Arkansas' 2018 recruiting class. Connor Nolandโa 4-star prospect and the 14th-best pro-style quarterback onย 247Sports'composite rankingsโis also in the class and figures to have the inside lane on Jones in any quarterback competition based on recruiting rankings alone.
Despite the presence of Noland, there is a connection between Jones and new Arkansas head coach Chad Morris.ย Trentย Shadidย of SEC Country noted Morris offered Jones a scholarship a mere three days after accepting the job. Morris' son was the backup quarterback behind Jones at Highland Park high school this past season.
Jones thrived at Highland Park, leading his team to a second straightย UILย state football title. According toย Brianย Gossetย of theย Star-Telegram, Jones accumulated 5,200 total yards and 71 touchdowns on his way to being the District 15-5A MVP and an all-state honorable mention in Texas.
The Razorbacks could use the boost on the recruiting trail considering they are a mere 55th in the country inย 247Sports'ย team rankings.
Jones will look to match his grandfather's success at Arkansas since Jerry Jones was part of the 1964 national title team.
