Jose Mourinho Reportedly Targeting Arturo Vidal in Manchester United Remodel
Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho reportedly wants to add another Chilean recruit to his squad this summer and will chase Bayern Munich midfielder Arturo Vidal after signing compatriot Alexis Sanchez.
James Robson of the Manchester Evening News noted the Red Devils boss is seeking "at least one new recruit" in his engine room, as Michael Carrick, who will be 37 in July, looks set to end his 12-year tenure at Old Trafford when his contract expires.
Marouane Fellaini's deal is also due to run out at the end of this season, and despite recruiting former Chelsea man Nemanja Matic in a £40 million deal last summer, Mourinho is said to be seeking more experience in midfield.

Vidal, 30, has a little less than 18 months remaining on his Bayern contract, but the South American's performances this season may yet convince his employers to extend his stay in the Bundesliga:
Vidal joined Die Roten from Juventus in the summer of 2015 and is set to win a third consecutive German league title with the club this term, having made 26 appearances across all competitions.
That being said, speculation was recently raised after Bayern confirmed the summer capture of Schalke 04 midfielder Leon Goretzka, per German outlet DW Sports:
Bayern manager Jupp Heynckes has since addressed rumours Goretzka's arrival could endanger Vidal's place in the team, however, telling Kicker (h/t ESPN FC's Mark Lovell): "Arturo is a guaranteed starter for me. He doesn't need to worry about his place. He is a class player who we need in the big games."
There is room for interpretation, though, as Heynckes only has a deal to remain in charge at the Allianz Arena until the end of this season, having replaced for Carlo Ancelotti in October. Per Lovell's report, the club is doing its utmost to convince him to extend his fourth spell in charge.
There is need for a player of Vidal's quality at Old Trafford, too, as Yahoo's Andrew Gaffney noted how United record signing Paul Pogba was overrun in midfield during Wednesday's 2-0 defeat at Tottenham Hotspur:
The France international isn't best utilised in a deeper role, but he has been forced to take on that position at times. Meanwhile, Ander Herrera, who has started only eight league games this season, finds his place in some doubt.
Blogger Liam Canning recently commented on the midfield makeup in Manchester and how the Red Devils are not squeezing the best out of their assets:
Vidal has found success wherever he has gone in his career, winning six domestic league titles in the past six seasons—four in a row with Juventus before clinching two out of two at Bayern, not to mention back-to-back Copa America crowns with Chile (2015 and 2016).
A linkup between him and Sanchez could have the makings of a devastating duo and fill a big need for United in the process, but Bayern's desire to keep hold of Vidal may dictate this summer's movement.
