Super Bowl National Anthem 2018: Singer Info, Start Time and Prop Bet Lines

Steve SilvermanJan 29, 2018

The Super Bowl is all about hard-hitting, strategy, big plays and preparation. When the Philadelphia Eagles and New England Patriots take the field at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis Sunday at 6:30 p.m. ET, the two best teams in the NFL will be taking care of the most important piece of league business.

The sideshows associated with the game bring in many more viewers who are not regular football watchers. Non-football fans are drawn in by the spectacle of the event, the halftime show, the first-run commercials that are shown throughout the game, and the party atmosphere.

Fans and viewers at all levels have a chance to bet on various aspects of the game, from point-spread results, to first touchdown scoring to whether there will be a defensive touchdown.

There are also additional bets that can be made on the things that have nothing to do with the competition, including the national anthem.

Alecia Beth Moore, better known to her fans as Pink (P!nk), will sing the national anthem this year. There are a number of betting options associated with her interpretation of the anthem that are available to interested bettors.

The most basic of the bets is how long it will take Pink to sing "The Star-Spangled Banner." The time in question is two minutes, and those who believe that Pink will take longer must risk $140 to win $100, odds of -140, according to OddsShark. Those who believe it will be less than two minutes can make that bet at even odds (risk $100 to earn $100).

There are several other lines associated with the anthem and Pink. One has to do with the color of her hair as she starts the anthem. The pink/red option is offered at +150 (risk $100 to win $150), white/blond is +175, brown/black is offered at +400, blue/purple and green are +500.

Another betting option has to do with whether Pink will remain stationary throughout her performance. Those who believe she will be airborne at some point are offered that bet at +150. Bettors who believe she will remain grounded throughout her interpretation must risk $200 to win $100.

Many singers have been known to forget or alter words during the song. Bettors who believe she will make at least one mistake with the words can make a wager at +300. Those who believe she will deliver a perfect, word-for-word performance must risk $500 to win $100.

Pink is not just an unbiased singer who is there to kick off the game. The singer was born in Doylestown, Pennsylvania, which is about an hour north of Philadelphia. Oddsmakers are offering an opportunity to bet whether Pink will say "Eagles" at any point before, during or after the national anthem.

Bettors can risk $100 to win $110 if she does, or they can bet $150 to win $100 if they don't think she will mention the team's name.

If she wears a shirt or hat that supports the Eagles, bettors can win $200 by risking $100. Those who don't believe she will wear any garment that supports the Eagles must risk $500 to win $100.
