UFC 220, Bellator 192 Each Begin with Vicious Knockouts
The UFC and Bellator went head-to-head on Saturday with two signature fight cards, and it began with an "anything you can do, I can do better" vibe.
UFC 220 at TD Garden in Boston kicked off with Islam Makhachev taking on a returning Gleison Tibau. It didn't take long for Makhachev to find his mark and spoil the feel-good return for Tibau. Makhachev connected with a left hand on the chin that put Tibau flat on the canvas.
The official end came at just 57 seconds of the first round.

Shortly after, Bellator 192 got underway at The Forum in Inglewood, California. And it featured a scintillating KO to the body.
NCAA standout Joey Davis met Ian Butler in the curtain-jerking bout. The undefeated Davis ended Butler's upset bid in just 39 seconds when he connected with a spinning back kick to the breadbasket.
The violent liver shot moved Davis to 3-0 in his young MMA career.
The UFC and Bellator are embarking on their 2018 campaigns, and they both kicked off on the right note.
