Manchester United Transfer News: Latest Rumours on Danilo Pereira, Lucas Moura

Rory MarsdenJan 20, 2018

Manchester United scouts reportedly watched midfielder Danilo Pereira play for Porto on Friday as they beat Tondela 1-0 in the league.

According to Portuguese outlet A Bola (via Goal), Arsenal scouts were also in attendance to cast their eye over the 26-year-old's fine performance, as were representatives from Atalanta, Burnley and Celta Vigo.

The report added United and Arsenal have both watched Pereira several times this season and could both compete to sign him as they look to bolster their midfield ranks.

It was recently confirmed that Michael Carrick, who has been sidelined for much of the 2017-18 campaign, will retire at the end of the season.

His absence has revealed a lack of depth in the deep-lying midfield role at Old Trafford, with Nemanja Matic heavily relied upon.

Pereira would be a superb replacement for Carrick at United and would provide competition and cover for Serbian Matic. The pair could also play alongside each other with Paul Pogba in a three-man midfield.

The Portugal international has been consistently excellent for Porto since joining the club in 2015, and it is little surprise United and Arsenal are both monitoring him ahead of potential moves.

Meanwhile, Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly named Lucas Moura's price tag amid heavy links to United, as well as Tottenham Hotspur and Napoli, during the January transfer window.

Per France Football (via Goal), the Brazilian winger is eager to depart the club having become a fringe player in 2017-18 but PSG are eager to recoup the €40 million they paid for him in 2012, although €30 million may be enough.

Moura, 25, has played just 72 minutes of action in Ligue 1 this season and seems surplus to requirements at the Parc des Princes after the summer arrivals of Kylian Mbappe and Neymar.

He remains a high-quality attacking player with superb creative ability and ball control, so it is likely a number of clubs make a move to sign him up.

However, per John Cross in the Mirror, United are on the verge of snapping up Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal, which would likely see them drop their interest in Moura, who is a similar type of player to the Chilean.
