Team News

Swansea striker Tammy Abraham is a doubt with a hip injury but could return, while Renato Sanches may also be fit after recovering from a hamstring problem, per the club's official website.

Defender Michael van der Hoorn is fit, despite being forced off against Newcastle United last time out, and Angel Rangel is also nearing full fitness.

For Liverpool, Loris Karius should continue after Klopp said the goalkeeper is now his No.1, per James Pearce at the Liverpool Echo:

However, the Reds have doubts over top scorer Mohamed Salah, Ragnar Klavan and Dejan Lovren who have all missed training due to sickness, per the official Liverpool website.

Record-signing Virgil van Dijk should be fit after a hamstring problem, but the game comes too soon for Alberto Moreno and Jordan Henderson.

Preview

Liverpool are flying high and will fancy making it six wins in a row in all competitions against struggling Swansea.

The Reds' high pressing and clinical finishing were too much for Pep Guardiola's side last time out, although their defensive frailties were highlighted again as City scored twice late on in a 4-3 defeat.

The return to fitness of Van Dijk should help, although there are still question marks over goalkeeper Karius, despite Klopp having now installed him as the club's first choice.

Football expert Artur Petrosyan explained why there are such doubts over Karius:

However, Liverpool's attack frequently make up for their defensive shortcomings, and Swansea will need no reminding they were thrashed 5-0 at Anfield on Boxing Day.

The Swans have improved since then under new manager Carlos Carvalhal and have taken four points from his first three games in charge. They also enjoyed a morale-boosting FA Cup third-round replay win over Wolverhampton Wanderers last time out.

Jordan Ayew scored a brilliant solo goal that the club were happy to show off:

The goal was the 26-year-old's fourth in his last seven games, and he could cause the Liverpool defence problems, particularly if Abraham is ruled out.

Per BBC SportCarvalhal has said Monday's match is a "David v Goliath" clash, and anything other than a big away win will be something of a surprise.
