Kwang-Song Han's Agent Discusses Reported Liverpool and Tottenham Interest

Matt JonesJan 17, 2018

The agent for Cagliari forward Kwang-Song Han has dismissed suggestions Tottenham Hotspur have made a move for the player, although he said Liverpool have shown an interest in him in the past.

Han is on loan at Serie B club Perugia and has impressed plenty by netting seven goals and grabbing three assists already this term.

Speaking about his client to Lucas Sposito of Sport Witness, Sandro Stemperini cooled talk of an approach from Spurs, but he noted there is plenty of interest from across the continent in the 19-year-old.

"Officially, I do not have a call from Tottenham," he said. "There are several officials, from Germany… it's normal that several clubs ask about him. Because he is a youngster who is playing very well, who here in Italy is being followed by Juventus, an important club. It's normal for everyone to talk to me. But officially, from Tottenham, I do not have a call."

It was reported by Tuttomercatoweb (h/t Sport Witness) that Spurs were ready to intensify their interest in the teenager as a "prelude to a real offer."

Han moved to Cagliari in 2015 and made his first appearance for the club in April 2017; he became the first North Korean player to score in the Italian top flight in his second outing. Prior to the move, he spent his youth career at TecnoFutbol.

Speaking about the early days of Han's playing career, Stemperini said there was interest from Liverpool before he made the switch to Serie A.

"Liverpool were seriously interested," he told Sposito. "After he moved to Cagliari, already in an Italian club, they did not come back, no. Now I know nothing about it."

In his home nation, there is said to be massive hope for Han. According to Robert Cottingham of MailOnline, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un "wants North Korea to become a genuine force in world football and Han is central to the dictator's plans."

Stylistically, Han is easy on the eye, as he's technically proficient, has a sharp change of pace and is always seeking to be positive in possession.

The forward is evidently a major talent and appears to have caught the eye of some of European football's biggest clubs. Still, he has plenty to learn yet, as evidenced by his loan move, and it is surely still too soon to think about him moving to a massive club.
