CoCo Vandeweghe Waits for Banana Before Taking Court at Australian Open
Coco Vandeweghe argued with a chair umpire over a banana during an opening-round Australian Open loss to Timea Babos on Monday.
According to the Australian Associated Press, via ESPN.com, Vandeweghe received a code violation for not returning to the court in time. She insisted she was not given enough time to eat a banana.
"I don't have to make myself uncomfortable because it's ill-prepared," she told the umpire.

The 26-year-old American, who entered Melbourne Park as the tournament's No. 10 seed, later received another code violation after she appeared to yell an obscenity, per Ben Rothenberg of the New York Times:
Vandeweghe, who lost to Babos in straight sets, joined No. 5 seed Venus Williams and No. 13 seed Sloane Stephens to form a surprise trio of prominent Americans booted out in the first round.
