In the first round of All-Star voting released last week, Antetokounmpo was in the top spot over James by nearly 7,000 votes.

James and Antetokounmpo are two of the five players with more than 1 million total votes thus far. Kyrie Irving of the Boston Celtics is third with 1,370,643, followed by Golden State Warriors teammates Stephen Curry (1,369,658) and Kevin Durant (1,326,059).

Seeking his 14th straight All-Star appearance, James is having one of the best seasons of his already historic career. The four-time NBA MVP is averaging 27.2 points, 8.2 rebounds and 9.0 assists per game.

Antetokounmpo ranks second in the NBA with 28.7 points and 11th with 10.0 rebounds.

Under the new All-Star Game format announced in October, the leading vote-getter in each conference will captain a team that will draft a roster from the pool of All-Stars named to the team as starters and reserves.

The 2018 NBA All-Star Game will be played Feb. 18 from the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
