"Some people may question my loyalty to football, but the passion for that will not change," Beasley said in the statement. "My aim is to do exactly what I have been doing for the past six years, making music, because that is what I enjoy doing."

Beasley received support from Cowboys teammates Ezekiel Elliott and Terrance Williams on Twitter:

After setting career highs in catches (75) and receiving yards (833) in 2016, Beasley secured 36 receptions for 314 yards in a diminished role this season. He has spent his entire career with Dallas since signing as an undrafted free agent in 2012.

Beasley said he aims "to reach music lovers all over the world" with his debut project. For those impressed by his lyrical prowess, "80 Stings" is available on iTunes.
