Giannis Antetokounmpo Would Pick LeBron James 1st as All-Star Captain
If Giannis Antetokounmpo remains atop the Eastern Conference All-Star voting, the Milwaukee Bucks star already knows who his first pick as a team captain will be.
Per Stephen Watson of WISN 12 News in Milwaukee, Antetokounmpo said he would pick LeBron James "so we can have a good relationship" before the four-time NBA MVP heads into free agency:
In the first All-Star voting update released by the NBA on Thursday, Antetokounmpo led all Eastern Conference players with 863,416 votes. James is a close second at 856,080.
The NBA announced in October a change to the All-Star Game format. Instead of the traditional Eastern Conference vs. Western Conference teams, the leading vote-getter in each conference will captain the two teams and draft from the pool of players named All-Stars.
Antetokounmpo has led the Bucks to the fifth-best record in the Eastern Conference. The Greek Freak ranks second in the NBA in scoring average (29.1), ninth in rebounding (10.3) and 11th in field-goal percentage (54.9).
