The Oakland Raiders are ready to move on from wide receiver Michael Crabtree following the 2017 season, according to Michael Gehlken of the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

Per Gehlken, releasing Crabtree is a viable move for the Raiders because it wouldn't account for any dead money against the salary cap.

The 30-year-old veteran currently has two years remaining on his contract beyond the 2017 campaign.

He has spent the past three seasons with the Raiders after a six-year run across the bay as a member of the San Francisco 49ers.

Crabtree's inconsistent 2017 season has mirrored that of the 6-9 Raiders as a whole. In 13 games entering Sunday, Crabtree registered 56 receptions for 601 yards and eight touchdowns.

He has missed one game due to injury and was forced to sit out another due to a suspension stemming from an on-field fight with Denver Broncos cornerback Aqib Talib.

The 2016 season was one of Crabtree's best, as he finished with a career-high 89 catches for 1,003 yards and eight scores as part of a Raiders team that reached the playoffs.

If Oakland parts ways with the 2009 first-round pick out of Texas Tech, Amari Cooper will retain his status as the team's No. 1 wideout, while Seth Roberts, Cordarrelle Patterson and Johnny Holton could take on greater roles in 2018.
