Trae Young Leads Oklahoma to 90-89 Win over TCU with 39 Points, 14 Assists
Trae Young continued his transcendent freshman season by guiding No. 12 Oklahoma to a 90-89 triumph over No. 10 TCU on Saturday.
Despite shooting 9-of-23 and recording seven turnovers, the guard scored 39 points and dished out 14 assists. He notched two of his 15 free-throw makes with 7.9 seconds remaining to give the Sooners a lead they did not relinquish.
NCAA Division I's leading scorer tested his range steps behind the arc on some of his six three-point makes. Young has drained 50 threes this season for the 11-1 Sooners, who extended their winning streak to nine with the victory at Ed and Rae Schollmaier Arena.
Following Young's latest stellar showing, The Ringer's Bill Simmons called the Lubbock, Texas, native "the best freshman college guard I have ever seen." Young's deep range and advanced court vision are making every Oklahoma game appointment viewing.
