Manchester United Transfer News: Paulo Dybala and Henrikh Mkhitaryan Rumours

Rob BlanchetteDec 28, 2017

Manchester United have reportedly offered £70 million plus Henrikh Mkhitaryan for Juventus forward Paulo Dybala, but the Serie A champions have rejected the bid.

Alvise Cagnazzo of The Sun reported the Red Devils are targeting the Argentina international after manager Jose Mourinho cooled his interest in Antoine Griezmann. Mkhitaryan's days at Old Trafford appear to be numbered, but the Old Lady are not interested in a swap deal for Dybala's services.

However, the Italian giants are willing to do business if an offer in excess of £86 million is made for the 24-year-old attacker.

Mkhitaryan has lost his starting place under Mourinho, and the Special One is desperate to add a player who will provide goals and assists, giving Romelu Lukaku vital support up front.

Dybala is a goalscoring No. 10 and could be the answer to United's lack of potency after Mkhitaryan's fall from grace.

In the current market, £86 million would represent very good business for a player who is still in the process of developing into a world-class entity.

Per Cagnazzo, Griezmann's future will not be at United, but Dybala could be the next big name to make his way into Mourinho's squad.

The player has provided 12 goals and three assists for Juve in 17 Serie A appearances this term but has recently found himself out of the starting XI.

Here is Dybala in action:

Mkhitaryan showed great promise in the second half of last season, scoring four goals in the UEFA Europa League as United lifted the trophy, but his form has stalled in his second year at the club.

The Armenian has failed to deal with the pace of English football, and despite his natural flair and talent, he would be suited for a return to the continent.

United will have to review their wage bill as they consider new additions, as highlighted by football writer Jordan Clarke:

Dybala could now follow former team-mate Paul Pogba to Old Trafford, and with countryman Sergio Aguero's incredible success at Manchester City, the player will fancy his chances in England.

The attacker has no more to prove in Italy, and a switch to the Premier League or La Liga is the next logical step in his career.

Juan Mata's presence at United is a further hurdle for Mkhitaryan, but the Spaniard would be a more natural foil for Dybala if Mourinho convinces the Argentinian to join.
