Panthers' Cam Newton Dives for Game-Winning Touchdown vs. Buccaneers

Cam Newton turned a nearly devastating miscue into a celebratory moment for the Carolina Panthers.

Facing a Tampa Bay Buccaneers defense last in passing yards allowed, the Carolina quarterback mustered just 160 yards through the air.

Despite the sluggish offensive performance, he had a chance to salvage a victory at Bank of America Stadium on Sunday.

He almost coughed up that opportunity by fumbling the snap on 1st-and-goal late in the fourth quarter. Instead of surrendering a costly turnover, Newton quickly scooped up the ball and lunged into the end zone with 35 seconds to play.

He then pretended to light a candle for his son, Chosen, who turned two on the day of Week 16's clash.

The Panthers clinched a playoff berth with the 22-19 victory. They could seize the NFC South with a Week 17 win over the Atlanta Falcons and a New Orleans Saints loss to Tampa Bay.
