Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann posted a photo of himself wearing a blackface costume on social media Sunday.

The France international shared this shot on Twitter, via MailOnline Sport:

Griezmann hasn't made a secret of his love of basketball, but his costume Sunday made waves for all the wrong reasons.

Sportswriter Steve O'Rourke was one of many who responded:

BeIN Sports' David Cartlidge noted the Atletico man likely won't face major backlash in Spain:

Griezmann later deleted the tweet while apologising, saying it was "clumsy," via Tom Williams of AFP.
