Fighter Scores Huge Upset with One-Punch Knockout at UFC Winnipeg

Steven RondinaDec 16, 2017

Ricardo Lamas was one of the biggest favorites on the UFC Winnipeg card. The longtime contender seemed to be set for something of a squash match against Josh Emmett, and he was expected to cruise en route to a potential rematch with featherweight champion Max Holloway.

Instead, the "anything can happen in MMA" mantra was proven true as Emmett put Lamas to sleep with a rare one-punch knockout in the first round.

The UFC's No. 3 featherweight being put to sleep by an almost completely unknown fighter, naturally, left most fans and pundits with mouths agape. Now 5-1 in the UFC and likely to jump into the featherweight top-10 with the win, Emmett could have big things in his future.
