Limited-Edition Hat Honoring Kobe Bryant's Number Retirement Priced at $5,824.08
As the Los Angeles Lakers prepare to retire both of Kobe Bryant's jersey numbers (Nos. 8 and 24) Monday, they unveiled a New Era snapback cap that costs $5,824.08.
Per the official team store, the exclusive 9FIFTY headgear has an 18-karat gold pin and gold-embroidered retirement logo. The brim is made from ostrich. Eight are available for sale.
According to ESPN's Darren Rovell, the Lakers will sell the limited-edition item at the Staples Center on Monday, when they will hold Bryant's retirement ceremony while hosting the Golden State Warriors.

Because $824 evidently isn't enough to charge for a hat, the five in front appears to honor Kobe's championship rings. And the team apparently needed to commemorate his original No. 8 twice to make those extra 64 cents.
The Lakers are also marketing hats sans gold and ostrich but that flaunt career stats and accolades for $38.24 and $40.24. They probably should not have bothered with the number theme unless they were willing to charge $24.08.
