Rockets Honor Late TNT Sideline Reporter Craig Sager with Tribute, Donations

The Houston Rockets honored TNT sideline reporter Craig Sager, who died exactly a year ago from acute myeloid leukemia, with a tribute video during Friday's game against the San Antonio Spurs.

Per ESPN.com's Tim MacMahon, Rockets owner Tilman Fertitta donated $25,000 to the SagerStrong Foundation, and head coach Mike D'Antoni matched the contribution.

As a pregame tradition at the Toyota Center, a guest—typically a celebrity—steps to the free-throw line for the "First Shot." Fertitta donates $5,000 to a charity of choice for a make and $1,000 for a miss.

On Friday, Sager's 12-year-old daughter, Riley, made the shot, adding another $5,000 to the SagerStrong Foundation.

The video was a classy gesture from the Rockets for someone who left a lasting impression on the game.
