Robot Passes Torch at South Korean Winter Olympics Ceremony
As we approach the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympics in South Korea, the Olympic torch relay put a humanoid robot, HUBO, on display for spectators in an awe-inspiring ceremony.
Professor Oh Jun-ho, an instructor at the Korean Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) in Daejeon, created HUBO, one of 85 robots that will help with security, information services, mural painting and cleaning services at the Olympics.
HUBO was the latest to pass the torch on Day 41 of the PyeongChang 2018 Olympics torch relay.
The robot traveled approximately 500 feet, operated a drill to cut a hole in a wall and successfully passed the flame through to the KAIST professor.
At this rate, we may see robots replace competitors in the Olympics games.
