How Tebow Can Be Successful in the NFL
Now, being a LSU Fan, I was thinking about the latest state of LSU’s offense. I started comparing it to different successful offenses, 2007 Texas Tech, 2008 Oklahoma, 2009 Florida. When I thought of the Big 12 offenses, I realized that those schools recruit similar quarterbacks over the years and keep a similar offense year to year. Then I got to Florida, Chris Leak was definitely no Tim Tebow. I realized that Tim Tebow is so successful in the Gator offense because it was made for him and his playing style. LSU recruits athletes. Period. Then we stick to our pro-style offense set in place with our past rather-immobile quarterbacks (Matt Mauck, JaMarcus Russel, Matt Flynn, Jarrett Lee even). Therefore, now that LSU is using a duel-threat quarterback, the pro-style offense obviously won’t work for our duel-threat quarterback.
Now this article isn’t about LSU’s latest problems, it is about Tim Tebow. Even since Tebow won the Heisman in 2007, the talk about him was this “He may have won the Heisman, but he will never make it in the NFL.” I pretty much agreed for two reasons, Tebow runs the spread which hasn’t made its way into the NFL effectively yet and no NFL team would drop their offense and build a new one around Tebow which is exactly the only way he will make it in the NFL.
Don’t get me wrong, Tebow is an amazing athlete. I still hate the guy, but he is a great football player. Now after getting my first full 7 weeks of Pro-football in, I have the master plan for Tim Tebow.
Two words. Oakland. Raiders.
Yes, they have JaMarcus Russel, but the kid has now one to throw to and sorry to the other Raider players (I do know that you could most likely kill me), but he is really a man among boys there. So I say this, trade the kid. Get some other key players. Then since most likely you will be one of the first picks in the draft, draft Tim Tebow. Recreate the Florida offense. You have Darren McFadden for the running game. You don’t need crazy good receivers, look at the under experienced ones Tebow is working with now. Slowing work on the defense like the Saints have.
I really feel like that would be the best option for Tim Tebow, but then again you could also say the same for the Chicago Bears…ish…. But we won’t go there.
