Jazz Guard Donovan Mitchell Sets Franchise Rookie Record in 41-Point Performance
Jun 1, 2018
When discussing NBA rookies, Lonzo Ball and Jayson Tatum dominate the headlines. However, Utah Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell put himself in the spotlight with a 41-point performance to lead his team to victory Friday at Vivint Smart Home Arena.
Mitchell's 41 points set a franchise rookie record for most points in a game.
After forward Gordon Hayward signed with the Boston Celtics during the offseason, many wondered how the Jazz would fill the scoring void. The No. 13 overall pick in the 2017 draft has answered those questions with double-digit points in 11 of his previous 12 outings.
The rookie guard led a fourth-quarter rally to put his team on top 114-108 over the New Orleans Pelicans.
