Get 'Em or Don't Sweat 'Em: Week Six

Ryan LesterOct 19, 2009

There were some unusual heroes on Sunday. There always are. Let’s take a look at them and see if they are worthy of your fantasy rosters.

Justin Fargas, RB, Oakland Raiders

I will not emphatically endorse a Raider right now, but Fargas had a nice game against the Eagles (87 rushing, 11 receiving). If you need a back next week and the pickings are slim, go ahead and give Fargas a try.

Ruling: Get ‘em if there’s nothing else.

Laurence Maroney, RB, New England Patriots

With Sammy Morris leaving early with an injury, Maroney was very effective. With the passing game getting a shot in the arm, Maroney should be able to find running lanes.

Ruling: Get ‘em.

Laveranues Coles, WR, Cincinnati Bengals

Sure, he had 10 fantasy points thanks to a four-catch, 40-yard, TD effort against Houston, but the fact is he’s third on the totem pole on a team that also likes to pound the ball with Cedric Benson. Ocho is clearly the No. 1 and despite having less fantasy points, Andre Caldwell again had more catches (six), yards (57), and targets (nine).  Look elsewhere.

Ruling: Don’t Sweat ‘em.

Hakeem Nicks, WR, New York Giants

Nicks has now scored in his third straight game. Manningham also scored, so it’s not as cut and dry with Nicks. The beating the Giants took doesn’t help either. Regardless, he needs to be picked up if he’s available.

Ruling: Get ‘em.

Lance Moore, WR, New Orleans Saints

I’m only mentioning him in case someone in those smaller leagues gave up on him, but it appears the bye week did his hamstring good. Not only did he score, but he caught six passes (seven targets) for 78 yards.

Mohamed Massaquoi, WR, Cleveland Browns

If anyone dropped Massaquoi after his one-catch, 16-yard dud against the Bills, you may want to snatch him up. He’s truly the only thing going in Cleveland. He had five of the nine Browns catches and 83 of the team's 122 yards.

Ruling: Get ‘em.
