Juventus-Fiorentina 1-1

A 1-1 draw was the result of a tough match between long time rivals Juventus and Fiorentina, in the first fixture of serie A 8th day.

Under the cold rain of Turin, Juan Manuel Vargas found the net after only five minutes for the Viola , but Juventus striker Amauri scored the equalizer at minute 20, to set the eventual 1-1.

Here are the player ratings.

Juventus (4-3-1-2)

Buffon 5,5: Vargas' early strike was from quite a short distance, but the world best keeper got beaten on his post.

Grygera 5,5: you can't expect much magic on the right flank from a centre back in disguise, and his direct opponent was probably the man of the match.

Cannavaro 6: some hard times with classy Jovetic, but overall a solid performance.

Chiellini 7: convincing display from the young defender. He really put Gilardino out of the game.

Grosso 5: uninspiring performance on the left side, with some terrible crossing. Germany 2006 seems a million miles away.

Sissoko 6+: a decent comeback from a long injury. 69' Camoranesi 6: Tried to add some quality in the midfield, winning a couple of interesting free kicks.

Felipe Melo 5: lost some dangerous balls in his defensive half, and was ineffective as a deep lying playmaker. Not your usual 25 million euros display.

Poulsen 6,5: some nice passing from the Danish hard man, including the through ball that originated Amauri's goal. Looked like the most technically gifted of the 3 midfielders, which is not necessarily good news for the Bianconeri.

Diego 6,5: a difficult match for a fantasista, but he showed his usual class and even a healthy hard working attitude. 84' Trezeguet.

Amauri 6,5 : scored an easy goal, his first of the season, and showed some good headers and strength in the air.

Iaquinta 6: managed a lucky assist for Amauri, and displayed his usual generous performance. 80' De Ceglie.

Fiorentina (4-4-1-1)

Frey 6,5: a brilliant save on Sissoko, and a consistent performance overall. Could do nothing on Amauri's goal.

Comotto 6: ordinary display from the ordinary right back.

Gamberini 6,5: a good game for the Italian International. Definitely the leader of the Viola backline.

Dainelli 6: the captain made a decent job against international class strikers.

Gobbi 6: the versatile defender has established himself first choice at left back. A solid performance and a good partnership with Vargas on the left wing.

Marchionni. Unlucky to pick up an injury during the first half. 24' Santana 5: totally ineffective on the right wing.

Montolivo 5,5: you're always expecting something better from this talented playmaker, though usually your expectations get frustrated. Today was no exception.

Zanetti 6,5: some clever passing and nice playmaking from the veteran midfielder.

Vargas 7: scored a goal, while dominating that left wing. As usual. 72' Pasqual.

Jovetic 7: a wonderful assist for Vargas' opener, and those flashy moves and dribbles that make him one of the brightest talents in Europe. 69' Mutu.

Gilardino 5: his team didn't create many scoring chances, but Gila was out of the game for almost 90 minutes.
