WWE 205 Live Results: Winners, Grades, Reaction and Highlights from September 26

The Doctor Chris MuellerSep 26, 2017

Enzo Amore went from being one of the most popular trash-talkers on the roster to being a pariah, and it might be the best thing for 205 Live.

The Certified G's victory over Neville at No Mercy on Sunday made him the cruiserweight champion and somehow turned him heel in the process.

Monday's victory celebration turned into a unity rally for the entire division. Everyone supported the King of the Cruiserweights as he attacked the new champion, forfeiting any chance he had for a rematch in the process.

Despite Amore's sudden unpopularity, people will still tune into 205 Live to see him get his butt handed to him, and anything that draws more eyes to the product is a good thing.

Let's take a look at everything that happened on Tuesday's show.

Enzo Amore Won't Shut Up

1 of 4

The new cruiserweight champion kicked off the show limping to the ring with the help of a crutch. He sold the attack from Neville on Raw as if he had been hit by a bus.

He continued to talk about how he is the reason 205 Live is on the map while insulting Neville's physical appearance like a third-grade bully.

He showed a clip of what happened after Raw went off the air. Every member of the division took turns beating him up as if he were Eric Bischoff at the first ECW One Night Stand pay-per-view.

Amore said his deal with Raw general manager Kurt Angle meant anyone who attacked him would never get a shot at his title; and since everyone took a shot at him, he might end up retiring as champion.

Regardless of his backstage problems, Amore is being positioned at the top of the division. If he keeps leaning into the heel role he has been given, he might be there for a long time.

Grade: B-

Notes and Highlights

  • What was on the side of Enzo's head?
  • Someone should tell Enzo if he has to explain his jokes, they aren't funny.
  • Being a heel might be what saves Amore's career. He seems more comfortable.

Akira Tozawa vs. Tony Nese

Drew Gulak joined the commentary team to watch Akira Tozawa take on Tony Nese in the first match of the night.

Nese is an incredible athlete who put on some of the best performances during the Cruiserweight Classic, but he is being held back by his own gimmick.

For some reason, WWE stopped having him do high-flying moves and focus on his power. His physique is impressive, but he could be a huge star if he was allowed to do everything he is capable of.

This wasn't a Match of the Year candidate, but it provided quite a few entertaining moments. The Premier Athlete looked more dominant than he has in a long time, but he still ended up losing as he always does.

Gulak tried to continue his PowerPoint presentation after the match, but Tozawa cut him off with a kick to the face.

Grade: B

Notes and Highlights

  • Gulak's new music is great. It fits his character perfectly.
  • Nese is still talking to the camera during his entrance. Maybe the crowd is being quiet so it can hear what he is saying instead of just not caring about him.
  • Gulak and Nese have been associates since the division was first launched. It's a nice bit of continuity.
  • Tozawa has the best suicide dive in the business. It's basically a missile headbutt.

TJP vs. Lince Dorado

3 of 4

TJP came to the ring for the second match of the evening carrying the braid he tore out of Rich Swann's head last week as though it were a trophy won in battle.

His opponent was the man he attacked backstage last week, Lince Dorado, but Swann ran to the ring during his entrance to get revenge on his former friend.

The guy usually known for being a dancing fool was all business as he aggressively beat down TJP until he was forced to retreat through the crowd.

It was great to see more viciousness from Swann, but it feels like this feud has been going on for too long. They need to have one last big fight and be done with it.

Grade: C+

Notes and Highlights

  • TJP's new ring jacket is terrible, but he is a heel so it actually works for him.
  • Poor Dorado. The guy can't seem to get to the ring for a match.
  • Hearing Swann's upbeat music ruined the vibe he created with his attack.

Neville vs. Ariya Daivari

4 of 4

Amore on 205 Live.

Ariya Daivari apologized to Amore for what happened on Raw, so the new cruiserweight champion agreed to be in his corner for his match against Neville.

The former champion gave a promo before the match assuring everyone he hasn't lost his mind. He knew exactly what he was doing when he attacked Amore, and he claimed it was the best night of his life. He promised to do it again and warned Amore to sleep with one eye open.

Daivari took control early and kept the upper hand for some time. This was the best he has looked in a match in a long time, but everyone knew it wouldn't last.

Neville got the upper hand and started punishing Daivari with his trademark brand of vicious offense. He picked up another win with the Rings of Saturn, but Amore was right there to attack him after the bell.

The champion beat on him with his crutch, making it clear he was exaggerating his injuries from Raw. The show ended with Amore standing tall, which is something we haven't seen much of in recent months.

Grade: C

Notes and Highlights

  • Is Neville now a babyface by default after attacking Amore on Raw?
  • Amore trying to strut while using a crutch was funnier than it should have been.
  • WWE didn't give Amore custom side plates for his belt. He just has generic logos, so he might not be the champion for too long.
