After Lions' Brutal Loss to Falcons, Postgame Food Goes Up in Flames
Steve SilvermanJun 4, 2018
The Detroit Lions had a day to forget Sunday.
On 3rd-and-1 with eight seconds left against the defending NFC champion Atlanta Falcons, Detroit quarterback Matthew Stafford appeared to throw a go-ahead touchdown pass to wide receiver Golden Tate. The celebration didn't last long at Ford Field, though.
Upon further review, the officials determined Tate was down by contact just inches short of the goal line. That ruling resulted in a 10-second runoff, which ended the game without giving Detroit another snap.
Things got even worse from there, as apparent postgame meals caught on fire, according to Justin Rogers of the Detroit News.
Sunday was a disaster all the way around for the crew in Honolulu blue.
