Sloane Stephens Reacts to Receiving $3.7 Million Check After Winning US Open

Andrew GouldSep 9, 2017

Sloane Stephens defeated Madison Keys in straight sets to win Saturday's U.S. Open women's final at Arthur Ashe Stadium in Flushing, New York. Upon earning her first Grand Slam title, the 24-year-old reacted to receiving a life-changing payday.

The Young Turks' Andrew Jerell Jones captured the moment when the champion was awarded her first-place check. Stephens then appeared to emphatically say "Wow" and "Thank you" to the presenter.

Keys, meanwhile, graciously offered to hold the check for safe-keeping.

Robert King of The Kicker captured a priceless moment of Stephens' expression with the prize money in hand.

Who can blame her? ESPN's Darren Rovell compared the Florida native's career earnings with Saturday's monumental haul.

Stephens has a bright future ahead, but she may never get used to receiving such a big payout.
