Athletics Will Celebrate 50-Year Anniversary with 50 Stomper Statues

Andrew GouldSep 7, 2017

The Oakland Athletics will commission 50 life-sized statues of their mascot, Stomper, to honor the team's 50-year anniversary.

Per the team's website, the A's unveiled a "Stomper in the Town" initiative calling for artists to submit sketch designs.  After being showcased in Oakland through the 2018 season, some of the statues will be auctioned away, with all proceeds going to the A's Community Fund.

Applicants have until Nov. 3 to enter the competition.
