With Jayson Tatum sidelined, Celtics' fourth-quarter comeback falls short in Game 7 loss to 76ers

Since NW is Nerd "U".. lets focus on the numbers.....
By completing an MVAR (Multiple Variable Analysis)and a regressions study: Based up on the Strength of Schedule, and stats year to date, the Spartans have a 93.67 % chance of winning.

As we start the second half of the season.. Injuries are starting to take a toll.. Everywhere in the Big Ten..

Spartans have their share: Glenn Winston’s torn ACL has put  him on crutches for the rest of the year. He was schedule for surgery on Thursday, we all hope and pray he doing well.  Both QBs Kirk and Keith are dinged up.. Jenrette is out… and so seems to be Kendall Clark-Davis.

NW: RB Alex Daniel out, OL Mike Boyle out, DT Jack DiNardo out, LB Bryce McNaul out, CB Justan Vaughn maybe, LB Ben Johnson  out, and DE Corey Wootton hope he comes back after the this game…

Injuries only make the sledding a little bit harder..

Historically this has been a good series.. a few of the NW blogs want to talk about the past.. they close games.. Ok, I’ll bite..

The biggest come back in NCAA history… was the October 21, 2006... In Evanston, Headed into the 4th quarter, the Spartans were down 17 - 38.. and came back to win 41 - 38... this just makes the rivalry richer..

But lets not look at history.. lets focus on Saturday.

Our Preview form the Summer seems to still be on target..
http://spartymsu.com/2009/07/23/preview--spartans-2009-game-7-northwestern.aspx

“As for their schedule, its very favorable. Before NW heads to East Lansing they play: Towson, Eastern Michigan, Syracuse, Minnesota, Purdue, and Miami of Ohio.  Can you say: ... Weeaaaakkkk …

Minnesota might give them a game, and Syracuse is projected to be worst in the Big East.  What this means is that coming into MSU with a winning record won’t mean Diddly-Do, since they are untested with a Lame-o-schedule….”

And in fact they have Beat Towson, Eastern, Purdue and Miami of Ohio.. are not very big accomplishments this year… loosing to Syracuse and Minny...  not very impressive…

This week will be a test of the health of the Spartans.... I hope that Cousins starts and plays the entire four quarters, not having to pull the red shirt of Maxwell….

Spartans have limited sacks, have protected the QB well this year, allowing him time to look down field…. As long as it stays dry, Cousins stays upright as usual…  Dell, Cunningham, Blair White and  Charlie Gantt will get yards..

Rushing:  Larry Caper with Baker, Caulton Ray, should be able get yrds.…. I don’t think that NW "D" line is all that impressive.  They are allowing 260 passing yards per game, and 119 rushing.  The Wild Cats are getting the opponents QB just over twice per game… The Spartans lead the Big Ten in protection, only allowing 6 sacks all season.

The Spartan defense has recorded 18 sacks already this year, 10 in the last 2 games. They are only getting better.   MSU has lost 8 fumbles, while NW has lost 10…

Lets look at how they compare with each other in the Big Ten, and the base line data that was plugged into the Forecastatron X2000.

I do think it will be a good game Saturday.. Spartans should win big.. even with all of the injuries.. Spartans are a better team this year.. check out the Wild Cat blogs.. they are even predicting a Spartan victory...

I’m sticking with the original forecast from July:

Prediction:
Spartans       42
NWU            14
