George Hill Suffers Ankle Injury, Ruled Out in Pelicans vs. Cavaliers Game

Rob GoldbergMar 30, 2018

Cleveland Cavaliers point guard George Hill won't return to Friday night's home game against the New Orleans Pelicans at Quicken Loans Arena after suffering a left ankle injury.

Dave McMenamin of ESPN reported Hill was taken to the locker room for evaluation. Tom Withers of the Associated Press confirmed the Cavs ruled him out for the rest of the night.

Hill joined the Cavaliers at the trade deadline as part of a massive overhaul on the roster, instantly becoming a starter at point guard.

He entered the game averaging 10.0 points, 3.0 assists and 2.9 rebounds in 21 games with his new team.

This has been part of a wild ride for the 31-year-old, who has played for three teams in the past two seasons. He spent the previous five years with the Indiana Pacers.

It seemed as though he found a home in Sacramento after signing a three-year deal in the offseason, but he became a necessity for a Cleveland squad that desperately needed help in the backcourt.

Unfortunately, it appears an injury could limit him as it has throughout his career. Hill was held to fewer than 50 games in two of the past three seasons, but his latest issue could come at a bad time for a squad hoping to make a deep run in the playoffs.

Jordan Clarkson should pick up the extra minutes at point guard while Hill is unavailable, although you can expect LeBron James to mostly run the offense.
