Fighters Imitate Conor McGregor's Workout Routine with 'McGregor Challenge'

Andrew GouldAug 15, 2017

Conor McGregor will face the biggest challenge of his career when he boxes the undefeated Floyd Mayweather on Saturday, August 26. In the days leading up to the spectacle, other fighters are "challenging" each other to make fun of his unusual workout regimen.

During Friday's workout, the MMA star warmed up by swinging his arms. This is of course not his actual fighting technique, but The Corner podcast's Andreas Hale dubbed it the "dangerous noodle."

Light welterweight champion Terence Crawford started the trend of mimicking McGregor's arm flailing and issued an open challenge to all boxers to follow his lead.

Several fighters took the bait.

Martial arts instructor Shaolin Heibao added an extra layer of difficulty by using nunchucks. While the challenge has largely taken a mocking tone, he defended the practice "as great for warmup, coordination and mainly to practice your looseness."

Like McGregor's upcoming fight, this latest fad will almost certainly be over soon.
