NFL Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Pickups Week Six | Football Player Rankings

Sean E. DouglasOct 15, 2009

This week I don't have any running backs for you to pick up on waivers. Things will open up in this area because of injuries as the season moves alone but for now there is not much to report.

Below we have the top players you might want to pay attention to, for waiver pickups. Even if you don't select a waiver (or have already done so) it's good to keep these names in mind for the future weeks.

Quarterbacks

Kyle Orton, Denver Broncos - Bye Week Seven

The Broncos passing game is getting stronger every week and Kyle Orton is playing very well. This past week he had 330 passing yards and two touchdowns. Not only that but he has finally started hooking up with No. 2 receiver Eddie Royal as he had ten catches against the Patriots .

Look for Orton to continue his solid play this week against the San Diego Chargers .

Wide Receivers

Miles Austin, Dallas Cowboys - Bye Week Six

Unfortunately Miles Austin has his bye week this coming week. However, I wouldn't let that stop you from picking him up on your fantasy football team. The Cowboys are in great need of a receiver to step up and be a weekly producer and right now Austin is the answer.

The team as already come out and said that Austin will see an increased role on the offense. Look for Austin to start in the offense instead of Patrick Crayton when Roy Williams comes back.

Jeremy Maclin, Philadelphia Eagles - Bye Week Four

The Eagles first round pick receiver Jeremy Maclin got his second start in his career because of an injury to Kevin Curtis. After this past week's performance, Maclin may have won a starting job for good.

Maclin is the waiver wire pickup of the week as he is starting in a very explosive offense.

Kicker

Josh Schobee, Jacksonville Jaguars - Bye Week Seven

Sure the Jaguars got blanked in Seattle by the Seahawks last week but this week they play the Rams at home. Other than last week's performance Schobee has been a solid kicker for fantasy football this year.

Expect him to bounce back this week and have a solid game for your fantasy football team.

Defense/ ST

Cincinnati Bengals - Bye Week Eight

The Bengals defense has to play a couple of tough offenses the next couple weeks. Beyond that they have some matchups in the second half of the season that are nice to take advantage of. This defense has been playing great all year, and it's time to give them full respect.

The days of thinking your fantasy football players will have a big day against the Bengals are over.
