Stephen Curry Given 2,500-1 Odds of Winning Ellie Mae Classic

Andrew GouldAug 1, 2017

Stephen Curry will golf against professionals in the Web.com Tour's Ellie Mae Classic this weekend. The oddsmakers unsurprisingly don't like the NBA star's chances. ย

Curry received entry via a sponsor's exemption to the event in Hayward, California, which begins Thursday. He finished fourth in the American Century Celebrity Golf Championship last month, but nobody expects Kevin Hart to play meaningful NBA minutes after making some buckets in the Celebrity All-Star Game. ย

As showcased by Golf Channel researcher Justin Ray, athletes from other sports haven't competed respectably against the world's most skilled golfers. ย

Bovada initially listed Curry as a +250,000 long shot (equivalent to 2,500-1 fractional odds) to win. Bettors must like those odds, as it has gone down to +150,000. Nevertheless, he's still given the smallest chance of emerging victorious.

Prop bets are also available. As noted by the Mercury News' Carl Steward, Curry's 9-1 odds of making the cut at Bookmaker.eu are oddly optimistic given his professional golfing inexperience.

Don't expect any miracles from Curry, who is ultimately participating as a publicity stunt. ย
