Lance Lynn Trade Rumors: Astros Interested in Cardinals SP
With less than two days before Major League Baseball's non-waiver trade deadline on July 31, the Houston Astros could be seeking a boost for their starting rotation from Lance Lynn of the St. Louis Cardinals.ย
MLB Network's Jon Morosi reported the Astros "have shown interest" in Lynn and officials from both teams are "comfortable" dealing with each other.ย
Despite owning a 51-52 record entering play Saturday, the Cardinals are just 3.5 games behind the second-place Chicago Cubs in the National League Central.ย

However, with Lynn's impending free agency after the season, Cardinals management may try to look toward the future by dealing him for an asset capable of contributing to the team in 2018.ย
Astros general manager Jeff Luhnow worked for the Cardinals from 2003-11. He was part of the scouting and player development staff in St. Louis that drafted Lynn 39th overall in 2008.ย
The Astros could use depth in their rotation as they prepare for the final playoff push. Dallas Keuchel, Lance McCullers, Collin McHugh and Charlie Morton have all spent time on the disabled list this season.ย
In 21 starts this season, Lynn has posted a 3.21 ERA with 92 hits allowed and 107 strikeouts in 120.2 innings.ย
