Yu Darvish Trade Rumors: Rangers Asked Dodgers for Alex Verdugo, Walker Buehler
If the Los Angeles Dodgers want to acquire Yu Darvish from the Texas Rangers, they reportedly now know what it will cost in terms of prospects.
Per MLB Network's Jon Morosi, the Rangers' "initial" asking price from the Dodgers was either pitcher Walker Buehler or outfielder Alex Verdugo and other pieces.
Buehler and Verdugo are two of the highest-regarded prospects in Major League Baseball. MLB.com ranks the pair first and second among Dodgers prospects, with Buehler ranking 13th and Verdugo 28th on the overall top 100.
It would be a steep price for the Dodgers to pay, though Darvish has game-changing potential. The 30-year-old's 4.01 ERA this season would be the worst of his career, though he still ranks in the top 10 among American League starting pitchers with 9.72 strikeouts per nine innings.
Darvish is a free agent at the end of the season and likely to command a hefty salary, leaving the Dodgers in a position to decide if they would want to give up at least one elite prospect for a two-month rental.
The Dodgers entered Friday with an MLB-best 71-31 record and 12-game lead in the National League West, but Clayton Kershaw is currently on the disabled list with a back injury.
