Rory MarsdenJul 27, 2017

Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez has posted an image on social media and claimed to be "sick" ahead of his mooted return to Gunners pre-season training on Sunday.ย

The Chilean forward, who has been the subject of much transfer speculation this summer, has cast doubt over his return to training with an Instagram post suggesting he is ill, per Callum Davis of the Irish Independent.

Per Sky Sports News, Gunners manager Arsene Wenger recently confirmed that Sanchez, 28, would return to Arsenal training soon:

The former Barcelona man has been on an extended summer break after playing for the Chilean national team at the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup.

However, as he has now entered the final year of his contract, speculation has continued over whether he will still be at Arsenal when the 2017-18 campaign begins, withย Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea and Manchester City all linked with him, per Goal'sย Jamie Smith.

Wenger has attempted to make assurances Sanchez, arguably the club's most important player, is going nowhere despite his contract situation, per theย Mirror's John Cross:

But if Sanchez fails to show for training on Sunday, even after claiming he is sick, concerns could emerge among Arsenal fans that he may not be long for the Emirates Stadium.ย
